I am having so much trouble with the 6 liter that I am going to put the 5.3 back in for now. I sold my work car so I need the truck to drive. Once the funds allow I am going to rebuild the 6.0 into a stroker of some sort. I ran 7.97 in the 1/8th last Thurs with the 6.0 so I guess it will be interesting to see what the 5.3 can do with the same parts and same tune.

I got it finished on the evening of June 20 and on the 21st it lost oil pressure. I did a search on the internal engine section of this site and learned that these motors have really crappy oiling systems. The relief valve in the pump sticks and you have 0 pressure. I took it apart and sure enough the valve was stuck so I ordered a new pump and had it running again on the 24th. I drove until the 28th including going to the track on Thurs and on Sat nite it lost oil pressure again. I know there is some internal damage, just not sure what, and I don't have the time or money right now to do a complete rebuild. So, its back to stock for now...

Now we know why most of the builders advertise blueprinted LS6 oilpumps.Sorry that you were the one to find out the hard way.I guess I'll put a blueprinted oilpump at the top of the list of parts for any future engine build.

Yeah, I think the main thing they do when blueprinting a pump is hog out the bore for the relief valve which makes it less likely to stick. Mine will be blueprinted when it goes back together.
