Nice project man I've always thought that those old Datsuns were cool, especially with a transplanted Chevy mill in it. I think that either the 224 or 228 will work well with that light little car.

yeah, I'm not necessarily into the retro look either, but it looks proper on that car and would be fun as hell as a bit of a sleeper like that!
And seriously, by the time you probably get around to doing the “murdered out“ look on it, it probably will be nearly “retro“! That look is getting burnt out hard and starting to look a little cheeseball... IMO. Trust me, I've currently got a blacked out truck, and I'm sick of it. Seems the only people who still like it are the stereotypical young kids who wear big white framed sunglasses and want to spray paint their wheels a different neon color every week.

Another cool direction to go on that datsun is with the anti billet look...
Or please just sell the car to me, haha! Looks like it's in pretty awesome shape!

I see what your saying. I guess "murdered out" was not quite accurate. It will be satin black primer paint. The wheels will be black centers with brushed aluminum lips. Not totally blacked out.

Well looks like Im going the carbed route on the project. Just picked up a GMPP single plan and I have a nice HP750 to put on it. Been reading at a few light fox bodys running some stout cams(MS3) and flying. Totally stock longblock...just cam/springs/pushrods. The same 224 or 228 is a safer choice
and wont have to shift the car at 7500 lol.

hey, now I'm just curious if you plan on using a kit like the JCI to swap over to the ls v-8, or going custom??

with a carb the vinci 220/224 .551/.551 on a 112 LSA or the vinci 224/228 .551/.551 on a 112 LSA would be good, comp also makes a 220/224 cam, but i don't know the lift, and texas speed makes the tsp224 which is 224/224 .581/.581 on either a 112 or 114 LSA , the higher lift will move the power band up a little andmake a little more peak hp/tq. the texas speed 224/228 cam with .581/.588 would be a very nice cam too, on a 112 LSA. all are good choices, either hot rod magazine or car craft built a 5.3l LM7 with a carb and a comp cams 220/224 with rather low lift, under .540, and made like 395 hp and 400tq, that's what i would look into mself personally
