Default 5.3 with 375 HP

Does anyone have any suggestions on what CAM, head mod, injectors and whatever else I need to reach a minimum 375HP on a 5.3? This will be installed in a 66 Nova.

Hey,

Are you talking about at the flywheel, or referring to rwhp?
Also, Will you use a power adder? (nitrous, blower, turbo)

Not "will you use a power adder" but "you will use a power adder" 375 hp is attainable with 325 cubic inches, but it is way easier with a blower. Before I took mine out it made 338 with the headers, ram air, tuning, and about 8psi. I would suggest a killer set of heads and a custom cam ground to match and then a procharger.

Well put it this way. I made 304rwhp in my truck with just basic bolt-ons and a beefy 225/.535/112 cam and stock heads. With tuning I believe I was around 315-320rwhp judging by my increased trap speed after the tuning. That rigth there is pretty damned close to your # if you add 20% for drivetrain loss and the fact my wheels are much heavier than anything you'll run on your Nova.

Now, just add a good set of ported heads with some extra compression and an underdrive pulley and I have no doubt you could get about 330-350rwhp out of the 5.3L which would put you somewhere close to 390-420HP NET.

Do what i did. I think I'm in that range.

LPE 218/229 .560 113LSA Cam
Heads milled .050 and ported 10.3:1 compression
32Lb. injectors
Bolt ons
Cutouts

And a few more simple things here and there.

I recently put down 300rwhp/305rwtq with all the boltons(cia, headers, exhaust, pullies, tunning) and a stock 2k vette cam. I am installing a FMS 214/216 .535/.545 113+4 cam, Home ported heads milled .040 and 42# injectors this weekend. I am hoping for around 350-360 to the wheels when I am done.

This is more like what I was thinking might get me in the ballpark.

Any problems milling the head that much? What valves are you using?

I will also be running the 4L60E. What converter do you recommend?

Most of the F-Bodies seem to work best with like a 4000 - 4200 stall, but I'd probrobally go with something like a 3500 Yank or Vigilante.
