Default 4x4 cam

I'm new here and wanted to get some opinions on two cams I have narrowed it down to these two cams below. I'm not wanting to loose any bottom end. I have a big tire heavy truck and want it to scream, Ive done all the bolt on's that are worth any gain and now ready to do the cam.

Lunati Voodoo:

212 218
.531 .531
113 lsa

Or

Vinci Ultra Torque:

210 218
.551 .551
116 lsa

I would pick this one if these were your only choices.

What engine do you have?

Not just because I have it for sale, but THIS is THE cam for exactly what you're asking for in a 5.3. Comp Cams XR265HR. 212/218, .522/.529, 114LSA.

Sorry, my engine is 5.3 lm7. I can get any cam I just thought those two would be good 4x4 cams. I like the Comp 265 also, I was just looking for a tad more lift. Was also wanting to stay in the single spring arena.

Setup would consist of:

cam: (yet to be determined)

springs: Comp 918 (if I go with comp cam) or something comparable depending on cam.

Pushrods: hardened 7.4's

Timing chain: Ls2

Oil pump: Ls6 or maybe just shim the stock unit

Retainers and locks for new springs, new crank bolt, gasket kit, and I need to find a spring compressor.

I'm open to any suggestions, please help.

that comp 212/218 is proven cam for 5.3 users.. and you can even run it with LS6 spings instead of the "revised 918s" which still suck from what iv read lol...

Get the Vinci cam, you won't regret it. Better than the low lift cam IMO. Just as responsive, but more power & torque.

*Vinci Ultra Torque*
I would do this because it will have a much nicer idle also if you plan on keeping the stock converter.

The low lift is usually recommended over the hi lift for what you're asking for. I doubt you'll find a more recommended cam. That's why I ran it. I added 1.83 rockers for more lift, and gained nothing. If anything, it slowed it down. Works great with LS6 springs. I would not use 918s. If you want something besides the LS6 springs, go with Pac 1218s. They're good to .600" lift. You do not need new locks or retainers with either spring. The only gaskets you need to replace are for the waterpump. Nothing wrong with your stock pump. Aren't you already running 50-70 PSI? I know mine did.
