I killed 1 stock transmission and 6 built transmissions in my 5.3 powered Tahoe. Now I have a 4L80E.I don't think that stock transmissions are very durable.

What kind of power were you putting out in your Hoe to break all those trannys? And what were your driving habits (i.e. 60% street/40% track, race once a month, race every weekend + at every red light, etc.).

This isn't really good news. How hard is it to swap in the 4L80?

A 4L60E can hold a bit more than 400rwhp fully built (maybe 475-550 or so), don't think you need a 3/4 ton tranny for ~400rwhp...it's silly at this point.

It's 85% builder, 15% parts IMO. Shitty builds entailing not checked clearance on the clutch packs, poor valve body setup, 2-4 band clearance, overly hard/soft shifts, endplay, general slop, etc. all cause failures. You've gotta pay to play when it comes to big power, pay for a good build.
