Default 4.8 vs 6.0 both stock 1/4 mi..and can trans handle it?

thinking about getting a 6.0 engine and swapping it. been thinking about it for a while...

question is....
how much of a difference in the 1/4 mi would i notice between a stock 4.8 and stock 6.0 ?

and can the 5spd with t-case handle a stock 6.0? or say a bolt-on/cammed 6.0?

if not, what will be invovled in swapping in a t56...if i had to do that i'd probably just get rid of the 4wd components.

I couldn't say for sure what the ET differnece is between the 6.0l and the 4.8l, but I can tell you that the SOTP difference is pretty big. Stock for stock, the 6.0l makes the power virtually everywhere over the 4.8l. Your trans should handle a mildly tuned 6.0l as long as you don't abuse it.
Do you use the 4wd option very often? It does make playing in the mud really fun. I'd vote to keep it intact unless you want to grenade the extra weight at the drag strip.

Good luck,

Richard

I just got done with my swap 5.3 to 6.0. Damn you need to do it. I have seen so much more power. I got 20's and i spin them like the where 13" 100 spoke dadons. I still have the 4l60e with vette survo and boost valve. You should get a shirt kit and a vette to help your tranny out.

the 6.0L is miles ahead of the 4.8, with your 4wd you would never have to worry about getting beat off the line but you do have to be carefull because too much off that will kill your trany.

6.0 is FAR better than a 4.8 is. That 5spd prolly will not take it. I would track down a nice T56 and a McLeod clutch for future problems. But I wonder if a 4x4 case will bolt up to a T56?????????????
