4.8 vs 6.0 both stock 1/4 mi..and can trans handle it?

i think Ford t-case would work?
if i were to blow the tranny i would probably take out the 4wd and use a t56 or soemthing.

If it were me, I'd take the chance on the stock 5 speed holding up, but replace the clutch and pressure plate with heavy duty units. BUT... Don't think that you can start side stepping the clutch to get a good launch, or power shift gears to make a second gear scratch in 4WD mode... then the tranny would be lunch. It's usually not HP/TQ that kills the tranny, it's usually abuse.
