4.8 vs 6.0 both stock 1/4 mi..and can trans handle it?

I agree. Just take the chance. I would just put in a fairly stock 6.0 with bolt ons and see how much it can take. Mjhowards 5 speed looks to have held up well under pressure. I plan on getting a 5 speed truck soon. My plan is add power until it breaks a couple of times, then in with the T-56.

That would be cool dude........I gotta see this......a 2005 truck, heavy as hell going 13's just w/ an engine swap.
