***Contributing to the delinquency of topic destroyers***

--Some numbers from my multiple 1/4 time lists--
average 00-01 4.8 SCSB = 15.7-15.9 ECSB = 16.0-16.2
average 00-01 5.3 SCSB = 15.3-15.5 ECSB = 15.6-15.8

average 02-03 4.8 SCSB = 15.5-15.6 ECSB = ??
average 02-03 5.3 SCSB = 15.2-15.3 ECSB = 15.4-15.6

Lets not forget that we aren't just talking displacement here...we are also talking stroke (hense the much greater improvements in TQ rather than HP.) Piston acceration and time remaining at TDC are much greater in the 5.3L. Unless the understoked smaller displacement motor is capable pf much higher RPM the stroker will shine and mod for mod will produce more power.

4.8's are not bad motors but will not produce power as efficiently as the 5.3L--not that the 5.3L is the cream of the crop either.

Saying that with equal mods you can beat a friend of yours who weighs 400+ lbs more than you just really isn't something to brag about. the weight difference between the two is huge.

i still never saw any 1/4 mile times from you. not sure if you havent ever ran it or if it is too slow to post or what. All of us here that post with 4.8s running n/a know we're slow and we are used to it. We claim the bottom of the fastest truck list like pro's (cept for neil and his tank, he is the outcast )

He'd have to be throwing a HUGE shot on top of what Oxi throws to be running 12.6x to Oxi's 12.55....

You can't really base your argument with 5.3s and 4.8s with a single truck. Too many factors can take place, or atleast weren't stated.

Even if he was a single cab 5.3, with the same mods, he should be beating you by more than a length, guaranteed, either that, or that guy needs to take his **** back to the factory.

Dino, where have you been?

Here is another example. I have raced Dino's 5.3 at HRP. With the mods listed on my mods page and my dyno numbers of 261rwhp/271rwtq, he beat me with less mods. I did outwiegh him by 200#. He also beat me by about 3/10's. And I got him on off the line by about 2/10's. So the diff he made up was 5/10's. Now take into consideration of the wieght (200# heivier for me) and subtract 2/10's and he still beat me by 3/10's with virtually the same mods except for my headers and and different intake. I don't know if Dino had a pulley at the time or not. Any of that make sense? Oh yeah, I said I out wieghed him by 200#. They are both ext cabs with drops and bead covers. The wieght was my stereo and wheel / tire combo.

Sup greg, just been around, how's life treatin ya?

Anyways yeah, I believe I weighed in at 4800 I that day, and greg weighed in at 4800 without him. No pulley was in.

Thunder, don't worry about it. Quite a few guys didn't even know there was a 5.3 until after they bought their truck. Back in 99 when I got my truck, I didn't know there was a 4.8. Don't worry about it though, we got plenty of guys here in 4.8s pushin out decent numbers.
