i just wanted to say somthing....what is the problem here with all the engine bashing?this sucks/that sucks.i think we all know the facts...that bigger is generally better.but we also know that any engine can be built to run.i say its not what you have, but what you do with it that matters.if you hate your 4.8 then get rid of it,if you like it,fine.i have a 4.8 and would rather have a 5.3 myself.im one of the guys that didnt know at the time there were 2 v8's available.i plan on doing the best with what i have.its kind of fun being the underdog...but it does cost more ...if i cant get the performance im looking for out of my 4.8 then it will be engine swap time.of course by the time my stubborn *** gives up ill be to broke to get another engine now can we all just stop this my motor can beat up your motor crap and get back to what we come here for....help,advise and good truckin times

compared to the old engines i would rather have a new 4.8 than and old 5.7(truck). they all run good. but if you are looking to hop up your 4,8 you have to consider the 6.0. headers for $700 and get 2/10's or a 6.0 for $2000 instaled and get how much? probably 6/10's and it will react much better to every bolt on you throw at it. i got my 02 6.0 for $1500 shiped top my door. it is identical to the 4.8/5.3 externaly.

hell no I would take the old 350. CAn you say brodix heads, ross pistons, 6.25 carrella rods, super victor intake, making 600 easy horse power cheaper than yo ucan with these.

I've been reading and reading, just haven't posted to this yet...we'll, here's my $.02 for what's it's worth.

I'm happy with my 4.8, but I'd be even happier with a bigger motor. My truck is running 15.1 with 20" rims and some bolt-ons (and good weather.) Would a 5.3 be faster? Sure! But, I'm having fun with what I've got! And, I wanna see if I can get this pig into the 13s--N/A with stock internals. I think that with a converter, 4.10s, ET Streets and some headers, I'll be pretty close (probably 14.2 or so.)

Maybe some day....can't wait til next year!
