4.8 5.3 and the 6.0 all run the same cam. this was from 99 - 04 when i checked, so the 6.0 cam your friend put in his 4.8, was the same cam he took out.
Actually No.... the 6.0 cam is slightly bigger just not big enough to go through the trouble unless you have a 99.

Edit The 99-00 have the same cam as the 4.8/5.3 it's the 01+ LQ4's which have the slightly bigger cam.

This is correct! I raced a 2001 z71, 4.8, manual....identical to my truck('99 5.3,auto.) except for engine & tranny. Went from a stop, got him to my rear bumper, that was the best I could do.
