4.3 Vortec timing question
#1
The intake manifold gasket blew on my Vortec 4.3. I've replaced the gasket and got it running again, however it is back firing and running rough. What can I do?

You need to take out #1 sparkplug, and get engine on TDC where the line on the balancer, and timing cover line up. There should be a little marker in the distributor at 8~9 oclock line the rotor up with that and you should be good to go. You probably have it a tooth out of time or a plug wire crossed. Check plug wires 1, &3 they dont go in order. This is info on a 2000 4.3L.

No, your prolly not, but I am. Mine does the same but will not start. Throwing code 1351: Coil High Voltage. Mine pretty much has a short in the wiring harness somewhere or the computer is bad.

My truck wouldn't fire after I changed the Intake gaskets, and somehow by quincidence the spider assembly took a **** while the intake was off. I probably had the distributor in and out 20 times before I figured it out.

well went over the plugs again and found it was wrong. so i fixed that, started it up and its still idleing high not as high though, stoped backfireing, but is still really rough.
