Compromise..........go with 3.90's. I think that is what I am going to go with if I ever swap the gears.

I went fron 3.42 to 4.10 then right to 3.73s. I like the 3.73s by far the best.

If it were me, I would do at least 4.10's if you're running anything over a 30" tire.

I'm confused about the 4.10's loosing top end pull. I know they will loose TOP SPEED, but I always though lower gearing is going to pull harder throughout the ENTIRE rpm range.

The fact about grabbing second in the taller geared vehicle makes sense. He's probably in effect using lower gearing than the actual short-geared truck at that point.

Also, I get great mileage with my 4.10's. The lower gearing allows you to pull up hills with less throttle and less downshifting.

If you live in a perfectly flat area, the taller gearing will probably benefit you more, but here I think things will be equal.
