highway rpm with 4.10s?
#1
Hey guys, getting gears put in the truck this week and the shop is trying to tell me I don't want 4.10s for daily driving on the highway. They are trying to talk me into 3.73s. What are the 4.10s like for daily driving? and how are they on the highway?
2003 silverado 2wd 20s 5.3 with cam and 3200 stall on a 60e
Thanks

Gear: 4.10
Tire Height: 31"
MPH: 70MPH
transmission gear ratio: .7 (OD)
RPM = 2177
Gear: 3.73
Tire Height: 31"
MPH: 70MPH
transmission gear ratio: .7 (OD)
RPM = 1981
4.10 will cruise at 70mph 200rpm's more than with 3.73
my 2003 came with 3.73 stock. When i put a trutrac in I am going to swap to the 4.10

Mine came with 3.73s. When it was time to rebuild, I went to 4.10. I love it. Its my DD, about a 50 mile round trip and the all around family hauler. My wife just put back to back 12 hour trips on it. It has great highway manners.
I almost ordered 4.56s instead and sometimes still regret not doing it.

I had 4.10s and 33's on my old truck and I REALLY miss having the 4.10s. Made it easier to get up and rolling and the cruising RPM difference is only a few hundred RPM. I believe I would cruise 70mph around 2300. My current truck has 30.5s and 3.73s and 70mph is right at 2000 RPM.
