Well my friend got my heads from the machine shop and sent me a picture and I noticed the mating surface has ridges all over it. He says they do that to actually seal better but I have no idea how that would seal against an mls gasket. Called the guy that milled them and he said he has never had a problem with them sealing. I have never seen them milled like that. Just wondering if you guys have seen this. Name: 6A65AA3F-2E3D-4A6D-BF3D-E22453B4D673_zpsyofuaxgt.jpg

only thing I could think of this helping the sealing is it crushing the gasket more but it just doesn't make sense to me since they run from the combustion chamber vertically to the coolant ports, oil return and just the edge of the head.. I have never seen a head milled like this and we do a lot of head gaskets on big semi engines and the heads are perfectly smooth. I just don't want to be pulling heads right after all this.

I can't say whether it will seal correctly or not, but I know my milled 243s didn't look like that. Here are some pictures for reference:

I would have the machinist sign something that says they will cover any costs you incur (removal, machining, and installatoin) as a result of the heads not sealing. If they're that confident in their work, it should be no problem. Looks to me like they went a little high on the feed rate.

Well a little update, i ended up just taking the heads back to the machine shop to have them surfaced the way they should be. I tore the engine down two weeks ago and did the lifters, oil pump, oil pan gasket, new heads, and cam. Pretty much got everything together besides the valve train since i had to measure for pr legnth.. i came up with 7.350. Took the trans out and installed my converter and did the hd-2 shift kit and put it back up. I took the driveshaft with me to work to have a new carrier bearing pressed on as well as straightened and balanced. Im going to finish up the truck tomorrow morning and get it tuned as well. Ill post what happens tomorrow

You will love it! Your build is almost the same as mine. My next mod will be a Peak intake and fast 102 TB... Looking forward to the extra breathing capacity! Then throw a little N2o at it.

Haha almost identical.. But you have way better flowing heads and a ton more compression then I do lol. But yeah I'm on my way to my friends shop now to finish it. Should have a start up video up in a couple hours

Well the truck is done and i am driving now but i have a slight problem.. the converter i got is way to loose. It is completely my fault for buying the converter i did instead of just getting a yank or circle d and paying slightly more but knowing it is a solid converter. But the engine runs very strong, doesnt have an aggressive lope but you can definitely tell has a decent size cam in it. One pro of having such a loose converter is the truck just smokes the tires if i punch it at a dead stop haha. I am going to run the yank ss 3200 converter as soon i get the funds for it. Ill keep yall posted
