can anyone give me a parts number for a factory 4l80? gm parts direct or something, just trying to compare this pig to a fully or partially built 4l60

I don't know a parts number..but i ahve seen built 80e's for about 4 grand.This includes the unit itself so theres a core charge and everything else that you need.I forget the power it was for but i would figure somewhere in that ballpark for a built one and all the stuff you need to get it to mount up and go.

yea well if i went with the 80 i wouldnt get it built cuz i dont think i would ever get enough power to blow one of those, i was just trying to see how close it would be to a built level 3/4/5 60

Well, I'm sure that with everything your gonna be looking to do you would need to upgrade a few parts even in the 80E.Factory they only handle about 80 more hp than the 60E.
If your looking for a GMpart direct its gonna be pricey i would imagine as they want a decent amount for just a 60E.
Even still i would try to find one from a wrecked truck instead of a new unit from GM.
Maybe someone will chime in with a part number though so you can have an exact idea of the price difffernace.

cost is around 1800 and list is about 2900 from dealership.
