Default 212/218 112lsa Torque?

I have been doing a lot of reasearch lately to decide what cam to put in my truck. I have a 99 Z71 5.3L RCSB 4x4 with 33s. I have 3.73 gears, a blackbear tune, k&n cai, and exhaust. I plan on doing some longtube headers and a cutout. I want a low torque cam with good midrange. I have found two cams. A comp cam 206/212 on a 112 or 114. Budhayes runs this cam, and he said it reduced his 1/4 by 9/10ths. Alot of people seem to have good result with the 212/218 cam so one on a 112lsa might have more torque. I don't want a torque convertor because I go offroad, tow, and don't need the extra stress on the transmisson. I know cams have been discussed alot but any help is appreciated.

Are u sure it was budhayes? His truck couldn't run .9 quicker if he wanted it too.

It's been sitting for so long, spiders have built a cobweb community that Billy can't tell what color his truck is anymore.

Seriously, how soon do u want to do this?
Is it this cam?

Yeah, the XR265. I figured the 112LSA would sound good and might provide more low torque. My only concern is that everyone recommends a torque convertor for this cam. Not many people have the 206/212 cam(XR259), so I don't know what to expect. I plan on doing a cam this summer, but am preparing a budget and prices to see what I'm looking at.

OK, I know a guy who plans on running this very cam. He told a friend he'd have it stabbed in summer, fall at latest. When he does it, I'll let u know what his dyno results were.

I'm sure he'll dyno it. And he'll also take it to track to verify gains. I assure you.

Is regearing your truck not an option? With 33in tires, a set of 4.30 or 4.56 gears would do wonders for your truck.

I think you should put 4.56s in it before a cam. Expecially since you will be towing, and your transmission will thank you.

Regearing could be an option but I thought with 33s 4.10s were the best, and I don't want bad gas mileage with the 4.56s. I heard that going from 3.73s to 4.10s wasn't worth it. In a cam I'm not looking for a ton of performance, I just want a nice lope and better mid power, with no lost in low end. I get a lot of compliments like my truck is, but I know sure as hell if I seen a lifted truck that was hitting I would be starring at it.
