I run this cam XR265 hi lift i wound up making 290 at the wheels but Charlie is still gonna look at the tune. Mines a '00 5.3 with shorty headers w ORY and magnaflow, K&N CAI, ported throttle body and a tune. With the longtubes you should make right around 300 at the wheels I would think easy , you will have to swap to '01 and up injectors being that 99-00 are a tad bit to small. The thing makes great lowend for my truck but I do have a 3000 stall and 4.10 gears I think you would like it in the 4X4.

I have the 212/218 low lift & stock stall. This cam has the same lowend as the stocker and there're some dyno graphs that prove it, another member here (NicD) posted it like a year or so ago. Try a search.

I remember cause I didn't wanted to loose anything down low, and I was sold after I saw the dyno numbers and I'm pleased with it, very good cam for a DD.

As for gears, 4.11 is a good overall ratio with 33"

And if you buy this cam you should consider some LT's in the future to get the full potential out of it. And a good tune of course.

With this mods you should see around 60hp gains.

go 4.30 or 4.56 gears. And the 212/218 low lift 112lsa.

I'm running 4.56s with my 33s and love it

Let me resentence my question. What would be the best cam to get for a 4x4 truck with stock torque convertor?

Will you be going a hydroboost conversion also? A cam with 112 is going to lower your vacuum and the 33" don't help brakes either. Just a thought.

Lower your vacuum as in vacuum assisted brakes, not like the vacuum signal that a carb needs to operate efficiently.
