on the non-4x4 1500s, you get either 3.23s or 3.73s. no more 3.42s like I had with my 03.

You got me considering trading in my 04 for the 05. Well... ONLY if I can get the L33 instead of the LM7.

The numbers cast into the heads confirm this.
I also read an info sheet on it at the dealer when I purchased the truck. I could not keep it though.

I have A 05 ecsb Z71 with 3:42's and am getting 17.5-17.9avg highway at about 80-85mph 150 mi a day. And 15.5 to 16.4 in town and i drive it hard {At those same speeds with my ecsb 2500hd 4x4 4:10's it was 13 - 13.5 highway and 8-9 city }
The cr on th L33 is 10.99 to 1 the regular 5.3 is 10.00 to 1 . The L33 seams very quiet when idling and growls louder then the hd above 4000k with your foot on it

therock ? let me know how your program works

the standard 5.3 is around 9.4/9.5:1 compression and the new L33 is 9.9:1. as for the gear comparison, you can't compare fuel milage with an HD to a 1500. most of our customers that have the 4.10 geared half ton's are within 1-2 mpg of the 3.42 and they generally drive more agressivly (which is why they got a 4.10).

The GAS mpg on the 05 L33 like other motors will get better and top out around 10 or 12k.

Anyone know if the cam specs changed? Any numbers?

As for my Nelson 93 Tune, Allen is waiting on the new softare required for my truck to arrive. I can't wait. This L33 @ 3k is really feeling good in comparison to the 03 motor. He found out certain trucks built after a certain date required new software.
I do not miss the 3.73'a at all. I was in the mountains on steep un- paved back roads were I hunt yesterday and the truck shown no signs of suffering from the taller gear. It's not really that big of a percentage between the two. However, on my 95 to 96 truck gear comparisons these mountain roads is were I regretted having 3.42's. But on this truck it is not felt.
