how the hell do you kill this thing it's driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!
It is a little black thing inside that case that is about as large around as a nickel. Just cover it with tape if you want or be like me and crack the top of the black thing open and remove the element that makes the sound.

I know in the 2003's the chime goes through the factory radio, which if you are putting in an aftermarket radio and want to keep the chime, you have to buy a $50 wiring harness and mount the factory radio somewhere else, as well as a seperate speaker.
If that's the case .. you can't get rid of it unless you replace the radio. Good luck findnig a wiring harness too!

I hate that b%%ch too when I'm trying to listen to the radio and work on one of the cars, I can only leave the passenger door open. I will try to figure out where this speaker is and remove it. If anyone has a pic that would help us.

I opted to keep mine in the 2003, by getting the extra speeker box that plugs inline. I like the fact that it chimes whenever there is a problem like low gas, or I left my blinker on too long, or a dummy light goes off!

Cash .. that speaker is the front left door speaker. If it's that much of a probelm replace the radio and don't hook up the factory radio.
The additoinal speaker is an optional item with the wiring harness.
hodgee .. where did you mount it? I thought about using the rear left since it isn't being used. I have an amp pushing a componant set in the doors, and I don't use the rear speakers, so I was thinking that I could make it a chime speaker.
I would most definantly leave a plug so I could unhook it when I want to leave the driver's door open though.

If you want to have the drivers door open with the radio on, just take a screwdriver and flick the latch on the door closed, you just have to remember to pull the door handle to release it.
