2000 Silverado - Need exhaust advice
#1
It's my 4.8 regular cab long bed work truck that needs a little tlc. Unfortunately the car gets the big bucks and I need to fix the truck on a budget, but I do want it to last and I need to pass strict inspection.. I need everything from the stock exhaust manifolds back.
I don't need headers but I do need a catted Y and cat back and would like all stainless. Any suggestions?

Looks like most say to stick with Factory catted Y, but finding one at the junk yard might be difficult... what years directly interchange?
Biggest Problem seems to be having a 4X4 Regular cab with a Long bed... magnaflow doesn't even have a cat-back listed.
So far this is what I've come up with from Summit.
Pypes Stainless Steel Performance Exhaust $453

Magnaflow Direct Fit catted Y $433 (is this ALL Stainless???)
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-93419/

Opinions?

I had some Pypes 3" band clamps and the first one that I went to use broke apart before it completely tightened up, and that's my only experience with them.
I'd trust the Magnaflow y-pipe though, they make a quality product. AFAIK it is completely stainless steel
Too bad you didn't post this a few weeks ago, I had my factory y-pipe with less than 40k on it that I had been trying to find a new home for for over a year. Finally just gave up and cut the cats off of it and mailed them out to one of those places that pays cash for cats

Thanks for the responses... I've been workin on it and tryin to keep it as simple as possible. As long as the P0430 code doesn't come back I'm gonna see if I can cut in a cherrybomb or something and dump it in front of the rear tire to pass NY inspection.
The Catco Y pipe I put in is on it's way out after only 3 or 4 years and about 35K miles. I was never happy with it... The driver side is throwing the code and I have heard the insides rattling around from time to time.
If I get it to pass at least I'll have time to do something better in the future so recomendations are appreciated!
Thanks ~Tom
