Well ima call a friend tom, ask some questions.. It is just to odd, that the bands/clutches would just stop like this imo.. I got it to go in a few times while manually shifting it, when they did shift it went in find, no slipping. The oil looked great, it is a bone stock truck with 72k on it. His wife drives it, when she does she babys the hell out of it..
Your right that is odd... I think your going to have to pull the valve body down. I wonder if the 3-4 check ball is stuck in the plate.

Do you have a scan tool that can monitor transmission functions? Do you know if the computer is comanding the transmission to shift into 4th

Well it would be a good Idea to make sure that it is atleast comanding it to shift in to 4th. That way you can rule out the electrical part of things. I am not a transmission Guru but I don't mind getting dirty to fix things. All though it is rare, ocassionally The ECU can be the culprit.

I still feel it is in the Valve body though...

LOL... Disconnecting the battery wont do any thing...

I just had a car in the shop with no Injector pulse on cranking. Intermitently it would start but most of the time it would not. I knew It had to be the ECU on this particular vehical. After looking at the data while it was running then checking the Grounds and power in and out of the ECU. We confirmed it. Tried 2 used ECU's. First one started right up but had transmission signal issues the other was a no start. Put a reman ECU and problem solved.

There all over... At the shop, we got it through Pep Boys comercial sales but it was $300

There is a guy on Ebay I used for my buddies truck. It was like $101 Shipped to my door for chevy applications.

Well I will look into that, but first rule out the prob being in the trans itself..
