Cool 2 Gdamn hours to drop a trans pan. FML :/

WTF is gm thinking.. Buddy of mines 05 tahoe started not to shift into 3-4 gear. So after some picking, some of you all answering my ?? came to the conclusion to it being the shifting solenoids.. No bigge to change right, drop the exhaust, then the pan, voila, done.. WRONG As always, last bolt on each exhaust mani, decides to be a ***** and round off on us.. I used a huge breaker bar, after my impact that hits pretty damn hard wouldn't budge them, cracked, yes cracked a snap on socket.. Lets just say after 2 hours of F^&*(kn with them, I finally got the pan off. All that to swap out to tiny things that take 5 mins to do.. WOW, rant over..But it is bullshit the pipes need to be droped down to get that pan off.. Iam so freaking gald we did my Y pipe like this

having a tec2 is nice, even if it's old as dirt . from the pic you posted, it looks like dropping the exhaust was unnecessary.

I have dropped hundreds of Tahoe/Suburban 4L60E pans and never drop the exhaust. When all the bolts are out of the pan use a large pry bar o move the exhaust down. It only needs to come down about 1/8 inch. The pan will fall right out.

Then this is the truck from hell. Man I pry'd on this thing with everything other then a fuggn digging bar, it didn't move no where near enough for the pan to fall.

I havent tried it but have read on here that if you take the tranny mount bolt out and jack or lift the back of the trans up the pan slides out pretty easy..
