18s and how they affect ets

Stock GM steel 16X6.5 wheel weighs about 26.5 lbs
With a general 235/75-16 puts it up to about 55 lbs. At least that is what I measured on a regular scale.
my 20's weigh about 75lbs, plus the crappy traction causes me to run about 3-4/10 slower. My 20's without the tires weigh about 34lbs.
Big tires weigh alot to.
Whitt is absolutely right, centerlines are the lightest around.
If your thinking weld, they don't make anything for are trucks(as far as Race rims)
The key to heavy tires is to make more Hp and Trq
Just throw your stockers on and go to the track!

i dont think its so much the weight, as it is the diameter. if u put a low profile tire on the stock 16x7 wouldnt it be faster? ive seen some guys do it. wouldnt this be the same concept ricers do with donuts?

What do you want us to tell you? Wtf do I know? You can bet anything ricers do belong on riceburners. Weight makes a huge differance! I have experimented till I'm blue in the face.
If you want lower et's buy some slicks and throw them on 16's. Either your stock or buy some lightweight ones.
Your already winding the thing out with 4.10's. If you throw smaller tires on there you be closer to shifting into od in the 1/4.

The 22s on my Suburban weight about 87lbs each. Besides the added weight, the new package might be bigger in diameter so that would take away some of your gear so your ET can change from that also.

I don't have any et's but the switch from stock to 22's on my s/ced burb was a noticeable drop in acceleration. but I also did give up a little more than 2"s in rolling diameter. 265/70/16 to 305/45/22's
