I get crap mileage with the Vmax. That LQ9 loves to drink the cocktails.

Hwy - 14-16 @ 70
City - 12-13
Towing 5000+lbs - 8-10mpg

its the exact same as the 2500 non HD. It has a 6.0L, 4L80E, 9.5" rear, 3127# payload, only comes loaded no base model, has the same frame and drivetrain as the 2500HD/3500HD exept right over the rear end the frame drops down to the 1500 size frame for like the last 3 ft. Front torsion bars are the same, rear leafs are different, rear end is different.

It also sucks gas faster than Vince Young can kill a dog, is slower than my heavier Yukon, and tows like ***. The only reason I have it is because its free, I can drive the **** out of it, and dont have to pay for gas.

I dont know about the differences mechanically, but I had read that adding flex fuel will drop 10hp on a stock 5.3
They didnt say if that was on the e85 or not... I would almost assume that it was on e85 because you loose alot of mpg using e85.

you only loose that when running the e85 not when useing 93 octane. if you get hptuners and tune it you can make that power back. and if you crank up your compression and use e85 you can make up that power by a ton and get you mpg back. the octane rating of the e85 is way up there so if you run high compression or turbo to utilize the octane it will scream. its like cheap race gas you can run all the time.

I have some 60lb injectors just waiting. I will be getting an e85 tune as soon as we get it in my area.

Hummm... guess ya learn something new every day...

Found this on google

What is the octane rating of E85 compared to gasoline?
Regular unleaded gasoline has an octane rating of 87; E85 has an octane rating ranging from 100-105 making it a high performance fuel. Ford FFVs produce a 5% horsepower gain when using E85.

A tune maybe in order next summer then

Thanks I was always wondering what the difference was, NOT MUCH. So they must get a little worse MPGs because of weight then, If its loaded with more goodies it packs on pounds. Thats the only concievable difference.

Default 1500HD differences..

It also has the smaller diameter exhaust and muffler that a 1500 truck would have, I have the 2500 HD my coworker has a 1500HD, he was told by GM that if he wanted to tow a boat this was the way to go unless he wanted diesel which he didn't and that the ride comfort esp unloaded would be way nicer than with a 2500HD. That said I don't think they make the non HD 2500 anymore so maybe its just the same as that, he had one of those before leasing the 2500HD, I think its really about the same truck, I think the 2500 was actually faster than the new one he has but its been awhile and either of them are fast than my 2500HD on 285's anyday. There are better choices out there if you ask me...
