Default 120-125 PSI on all 6 cylinders, 02 4.3L, good enough compression?

im selling a motor out of a 02 silverado, the guy who wants it is burning oil badly when his motor is rev'd up, you can smell it when driving his truck and see it when your on the throttle, his PSI readings were 98-105 PSI on all 6 cylinders on his 2001 truck with 137,000 miles, my truck im parting out has 120-125 PSI on all 6 cylinders with 145,300 miles, mine doesnt appear to be burning any oil, and has good oil pressure, it runs smooth and has no codes, should the PSI #'s on my engine be higher? or is that good for a 145,000 mile engine? I just want to feel confident that im not selling someone a motor thats on its way out. My parts truck i purchased at auction after it had a collision, i planned on fixing it until i found the frame was bent just infront of the cab, needless to say im parting it out and i dont want to sell anyone something that will come back to bite me. both trucks are VIN W motors so im assuming its a direct swap from 01 to 02 motors.

anyone know if 120-125 PSI are good readings? i cranked the motor over 6 times without fuel pump or ignition on to test compression.

I don't think that is a problem. I would be up front and honest with him about the numbers. It is more important that the numbers are close than high. Did you remove all the plugs when cranking and hold the throttle wide opened?

i didnt think about that, i removed them one at a time, and tested it with a snap-on tool, i also didnt hold the TB open, i guess it would have sucked in alot more air with it open.

his truck burns blue smoke when it starts up, the plugs had alot of dried sludge on them, and anytime you'd get on the throttle, it would bellow blue/grey smoke, my motor only had steam coming out the exhaust (definatly not blown headgasket steam) ive already told him the #'s, my motor does appear to have a oil pan gasket leak, his does also. and when he would key his starter the starter sometimes would spin without engaging the flywheel, and othertimes it would engage the flywheel for about 1/8th rotation on the motor, then it would kick back out, luckily i have an almost new 4.3L starter, and the starter on the truck i have is good too, his truck is stick, mines auto, im assuming its just swap the flywheel and clutch over to the new motor.

the man wanting to buy my motor said he wants it replaced because its not only embarassing to plume out smoke, but his truck will not hold on a minor slope in 1st or reverse, his e-brake cable also needs the adjuster part replaced, so it doesnt work currently.

125 sounds low to me.

When I do a test on my Vortec 350's, I get up around 180 psi with a new Snap On gauge with plugs removed, t-body held open.

4.3 and Vortec 350 would be pretty close in cranking psi.

Maybe thats why your numbers are lower than I would expect????
