100k miles too high for cam swap?
#1
my '02 5.3 truck is creeping up on 100k miles.
is that too much to swap in an LS6 cam? not from the aspect of the cam bearings being wore out, or anything like that. I'm more concerned with the motor's willingness to be spun to 6500rpm before shifting, with that kind of mileage?
I mean, I've got a few friends with cam'd LS1 cars that spin the stock shortblock to 7k quite often with no problems, so I wouldn't imagine 6500 to be that big of a task.
by the way, OBX LT's are on order, and most likely an airaid jr will be put on, and of course, a custom tune.

run the hell out of it, that thing is barely broken in. I pulled the heads off my 109k 5.3 in my old truck and you could still see the crosshatching in the bores. Just tune it well and you have nothing to worry about.

I figured there was nothing to worry about. I talked to my buddy who tunes my stuff today, he said he wouldn't bat an eye at putting a cam in it at 100k or more even..
