09 Silverado 5.3 to 6.0 ls2 swap
#1
Been lookin around the forums for some info any would be greatly appreciated.
Just picked up a 1 owner very clean 09 silverado z71 4x4 5.3 flex fuel with 177k on it for a dirt cheap price. Not sure of the trans in it yet.
Has misfires on #5 and #7 cylinders.. Dealer says needs new long block.
So I got another great deal on a low mileage complete drive train from an 08 awd ss trailblazer 6.0 ls2.
Looking to find some info on a good cam to add some power but still be tow friendly. I have already ordered a CAI and some longtubes.
Just looking around for any input you guys might have.. Any recommendations or anything thanks.

First off why dealer saying it needs a new block??? Which 5.3 is it cast block or aluminum? Secondly, the ls2 is going to be more torque and hp in stock form than the 5.3 to begin with get a cam specd for it and you should be good, but a torque converter will probably be in order...As stated will need to be tuned, what trans does the silverado have if the prndl display reads prnd321 its a 4l60/70 if its prndm or prndm1 its a 6l80 or in some instances 6l90... Rpo codes in glovebox will also tell you that... m30 is 4l60, myc is 6l80, and myd is 6l90!

Crazy cause the truck runs rough at idle and smokes but when you hammer down on it, it rips the tires loose and runs great at high speeds.
Also it's the iron block with the 4l60 trans. Has the M30 code.
