Default 03 Wants More Power

I have a 2003 swb silverado with a 4.3 V6. Is it possible to drop the new 2007 6.2L L92 motor that goes in the new denalis into my 03 silverado. If so what all would have to change to make it fit and how much money, roughly, would i have to spend on the conversion? And if all goes well what do you think it would run in the 1/4mile with it in and dual exaust and headers?

No idea, yet! My 6.2L 6L80E combo arrives in a week or so. I will let you know.
Oh BTW, my truck is a factory V8 so it will be a bit simplier than your swap.

the 6l80e requires a standalone transmission control module, and is not controlled by the pcm like the others are

much easier to do a 6.0 or a 402/408 or any gen 3 motor

My truck is a 2000. I am not sure about the gauge compatibility yet. The transmission has the same style of lever actuator to shift from Park, Reverse, and Drive. Obviously the 6L80E doesn't have as many detents as a 4L60E but the shifter action should still work. I probably won't have the tap-shift capability like the Denali but that is OK with me.
I purchased the complete engine, transmission, AWD transfer case, PCM, wiring harness, and pedal assembly for $9500.

I am not sure what standalone controller would be required to run the 6L80E if the factory computer and harness were not used because the transmission controller is supposedly contained within the pan.

Oh, and if my estimate is close my truck weighing 4700#'s should run about 13.0 at 102 using the stock 6.2L engine.

Surly you won't keep the 6.2L stock! How bout a cam at least!

I am a little apprehensive in modifying the engine because it is brand new. I would love to change the cam for more power but I haven’t done any internal engine work since my 406 about 10 years ago. I don’t know anyone around here that I trust to do a cam swap and I don’t have the tools to get the oil pan, oil pump, and front cover aligned properly.
If I could find an experienced LSx guy I would be willing to swap the cam. I need to stay fairly mild though so I can tow and continue with the stock torque converter. My truck weighs about 4600 pounds with 3.73 gears.
BTW, anyone have an AWD front axle housing with 3.73 gears they don’t need any longer? I am thinking of swapping my Autotrac for AWD and I would need to change my front diff out.
