Default 01 tahoe engine removal

I'm pulling the engine on my tahoe and replacing it with a 5.3 I got from a yard. Question should I disconnect the ac lines or should I take of the compressor and put it to the side and put it on the new motor. Same thing for the power steering. Anyone who has pulled a motor on one I could use some advise.

Thanks

Chuck

When I pulled mine, I left everything connected and pulled them to the sides. The power steering assembly was a PITA to move all together.

Did you pull the pulley of on the pump to get to the three bolts? It does like a pain but I dont know if I disconnect the lines if I would have to blead the steering box? Or is it like a older car where you hook it up and go.

Thanks

Nope, left the pulley attached to the pump. I also left the pump attached to the bracket and moved the whole thing aside as one piece.

Remove the alternator, then remove the pump brackets from the engine (don't try to remove the pump from the brackets). Then suspend the pump/bracket assembly with a piece of rope tied to the battery or something similar on the driver's side. Do the same with the AC compressor. This way you don't have to open-up the lines on either system.

It is very important to suspend these units and not put a strain on the hoses, fittings, etc.

Thats my project for the night. I just hope I can get to the trans bolts without removing the intake.

Thanks
