Default Recipe 2 B Quick off the line.

Whats the best way to get some juice off the line? My truck is from a dead stop. If I run from 25-30mph the thing flat runs. My buddy has a fairly quick 5.0 Stang with 4:10s and from 30-90 we are door to door, but from a stop, its lights out for me. Truck stats are 05' Z71 RCSB 3:42 G80 (No Mods) I'm guessing gears or TC is whats I'll be hearing. But just wanted to get some advice. Thanx.

def 4.1 gears would help.

5spd or auto? if auto a torque convertor would help a lot also. just like 2800-3000 or so i'd guess.

higher Stall, gears, more power?!

It doesn't take much, but at the same time it does. Ah the joys of upgrading, it's never enough.

Yea. I know I'll need to break down and get gears eventually....sux though....Z71 = double the parts and labor. As far as a torque converter goes...I drive this truck everyday, fair amount of miles, would a TC cause me trouble? Or does it still lock up in OD and its all good? I assume you need a tune for it to shift right etc.?

Truck looks awsome, Cajun. Do you have pretty good driving manners with your mods? I know I wanna do all that. What backspacing do you have on your wheels. I need to try and figure out what size BS I need to get wheels to sit right with my flares still on.

Get rid of torque management, and you'd be suprised how much better it is off the line. Then TC and more mods. $.10's in a 4x4 would be good, but you could go 4.56 too with a 32" tire. I know guys in mustangs with 4.10's driving every day, so 4.56 in a 4x4 should be ok

Stock tire is 265 70 17's I want to run 20's with similar tire sidewalls to an SS. I think they are like a 275, 60, 20 maybe? Is that close to 31 or 32 at all?

i got rid of 80% TM and im still not happy off the line. I think the only way to help it is to have a programmer speed up thw FBW throttle body response. we have an 01 and a 03 in the family, you can defintely tell thats the big difference is response off the line.
