Depends somewhat on how much of the 5.3 you have

Just swap the engine. Only thing you need to worry about is oil level sensor, oil pressure sensor and cable vs wire throttle. 4.8 intake on the 5.3 will solve that issue though.

Exhaust? TAC module? Wiring? ECM? etc. etc. etc. There's acoupla ways to go with each, depending on what you have and want to use and how much you're willing to deal with.

Why are you making it complicated? I just shared the simplest method….

Regarding EGR, you can just block the port on the intake manifold or swap intake manifolds and bring over all the fuel rails and throttle cable brackets from the 4.8. Obviously tune required.

Yup, one way is to take everything off of the 4.8 that's different from what's on the 5.3, and use that; i.e. just use the 05 block & heads. Probably that's the easiest. Another way is to take everything out of the 5.3 truck and put it in the 01. Where you'll shoot yourself in the shorts is trying to mix & match. As said repeatedly, "best" depends on how much you have, what shape it's in, what you want to use, etc. etc. Another consideration is inspection; if your location requires the original "accessories" to be installed and operating, or what.
