Welcome to the site. This has been talked about A LOT. Youll notice in the top right a button labeled “search” if you explore it you will find lots of good info. Now to answer your question.
There are only a few small advantages of the 4.8 over the 5.3 otherwise the 5.3 is better in every way.
The 4.8 is slightly cheaper. This might be of value if you are working on a budget or plan on swapping to a 6.0 or greater. Why spend the money on the 5.3 if your just going to pull it.
The second (and this is not all that useful in a 5,000 lbs truck) is that the 4.8 has a higher red line potential. 7,000rpm or higher is not to hard to believe with a stock bottom end.
….Thats about it. The 5.3 has much more torque, power, and there is no replacement for displacement. If you are not going to swap motors or spin it hard go with the 5.3

I've been looking around I don't know if the t56 will straight mount up to the 4.8. Most guys do ls1and t56 same time. I have heard different things about which trans this is. I've heard nv4500, nv3500, and t5 makes a third tranny. At this point would just like to know which one
