Compared to the 5.3, the 6.0 is a serious gas hog. If you're going for the Max, it's because you have a heavy foot. I've got the non-SS 6.0 in my truck and if you cruise at no faster than 70 mph, and as long as there are no grades you might see 16 mpg. I usally am driving around 80 mph, all on the road, and very seldom see more than 13 mpg. In town I see between 11 & 12 mpg. My friend has an '04 ECSB with the 5.3 and 3.73 gears and gets an easy 18-22 mpg doing about 80 mph.

It's amazing how much of a difference 40 cubic inches makes when it comes to gas mileage.

Your talking old school ,new school with the shut down **** they get about the same in town and the 5.3 a little better on the HWY

You can't exactly compare a 2500HD's milage to a 1500...

I can get anywhere from 13-14.5 in town and I have gotten a best of 16.5 highway, and that was with 285's. I have since went back to 265's.
