Default ***HAS ANYONE DRIVEN THE NEW "VORTEC MAX YET"?***

If you own or have driven a new 07 vortec max, what do you think of it? Is it worth the extra $1000.00 over the 5.3l? Is it a gas hogg? I'am ordering a truck for my wife on monday, and have to make a decision. We drove both trucks, and to tell you the honest truth the max felt the same or slower then the 5.3 . I hope it was the torque managment or some B.S like that. My moms escelade with the 6.0 will run circles around our 5.3 tahoe. I have no problem with spendind the extra $$$ I just want the best running truck. THANKS, J

the v-max is well worth the money... i would bet the Torque managment killed a bunch or the power... buy it and get a tune

The new Max is just held back in the programming. Trust me, the 5.3L won't even be close once you begin to play with it.

I test drove a 05 max like 3 weeks ago. with my trucks tune, intake efans and other stuff, the max still felt AWESOME. I could feel the power difference just seriously pulling out of the dealership. Then from a stop getting on it about 1/2 throttle I could notice the differnce again. Its well worth the extra grand.

There was a post about 3 months ago where the toyota, nissan, and the max were tested on Edmunds.com. When they dyno'd them the Max had a pretty poor showing compared to the other two, and then at the end of the dyno run the out put jumped over the other two's. The Torque management is holding it back big time, it doesn't give full power until 4 seconds pass when the gas pedal is mashed to the floor. Get a tune and that thing will be an animal. I saw the Nissan with a tune and it smokes the tires off stock. So the max should be as good or better.

what about if you got the 5.3 and spent the grand you saved specifically on performance mods?

$1000 dollars is not going to get you 35, torque producing, cubic inches. IMO a 6.0 with a tune will tromp a 5.3 with $1000 dollars in boltons. Unless you spent it all on nitrous. The 6.0 just has so much more torque. You will better off all around.
