I haven't Dealt with the transmission at all yet but if you need a hand I am sure we can figure it out. I have some pretty good mechanical skill. And We can head to the track after we are done

ok everyone just a few last minute questions: i don't have a cam yet but i plan on getting one in the future. a 3000 stall should work well with a mild cam, right? and it should be fine with my stock cam? also, the girlfriend goes to school out in albany so i make that trip often which is 400 miles round trip. will this thing hurt my gas mileage? i think i read somewhere that as long as it's in lock up it should keep the same mileage. i'm usually doing 85mph so with my 3.73 gears i'm usually at 2300 rpms when doing 80-85. will the converter be in lockup then?
on the gas mileage question, i realize around town it will hurt my gas mileage some, but i don't mind that. even on the highway i don't mind a little reduction in gas mileage. i just want to make sure that i'm not going to be pinned at 3,000rpm the whole Mass. pike.

You will still be toodling down the highway at 3000rpms with a 3K stall. Once the trans shifts into OD and you arent on the gas hard it will be locked up. You will see once you get it in there how it shifts into OD then the rpms drop again like a 5th gear thats when the tc is locked up. I lost about 1mpg around town with the old 3K I had in my truck. Highway you wont lose anything.

I lost on the hwy, and gained in thy city when I did my 3200 and 4.10's... :hmm: and as of righht now I am running the stock cam with this combo...
I havent tuned anything but TM and shift points though really... the lock up and everything is still set stock... cruising down the road @ about 40 the tc will lock up and the RPM's drop to about 1400... I gotta get in the throttle a bit to get it to unlock and go...

The trans is not "Hard" to get in and out from a mechanical skill standpoint. It's just time consuming and a pain in the ***. I've done it 3 times so far
If you have questions during the install, post them up and WAIT for an answer. Guessing leads to issues with the trans. Plus, pulling it all apart because you didnt seat the converter all the way would really suck.
Remember:
1. SPIN/PUSH the converter...converter slides toward the trans....1st clunk
2. SPIN/PUSH the converter...converter slides toward the trans....2nd clunk
3. SPIN/PUSH the converter...converter slides toward the trans....3rd clunk
4. SPIN a few more times just for ***** and giggles.
My converter had a 1/4 mile on it by the time I was satisfied it was seated all the way.
