Default tru trac questions

if the tru trac is not a full locker and is only limited slip, how can it launch with no wheel spin at the track? i'm thinking of going with one but i guess i just don't get quite how it works. i have a detroit locker now and i know its locked up. there is no guessing. but it seems for the limited slip to work one tire would have to fire off to get the other to "kick in", and that wouldn't give as good of a launch. am i wrong here. i'm asking because when i upgrade to the new 9.5" i will replace the stock **** with new good stuff. the tru trac is less money and if its strong as the detroit then i wouldn't mind going with that.

A full locker would be better for the track, but the truetrac offers better street manners. That being said I've had no problems with having both of my tires lock up at the exact same time on launch, or any time on the street.

I'd say truetrac then. I beat the **** out of mine too (although I am running quite a bit less hp as you).

there was a thread about this a few years back that explained it..... i know it does NOT have clutches compared to other limited slips which somehow saves wear/tear?

dont know but ive had mine for more than 3yrs now, 150 track passes and hooking like a **** with 1.68's at the track....

ive yet to see one go out.... only a member on here thought it had gone out but it ended up being that he added synthetic oil and it REQUIRES not to, so he changed the oil back and it started working again!

that's what i wanted. someone who has launched with lots of power with out spinning. what tires were you useing? i want to know that this thing isn't going to break loose before its able to lock up. that would get old and seems it would be hard on the rear end. the whole reason for swapping to this rear end is to boost launch at 10psi 3200 rpm.

well i wouldnt say I have LOTS of power but its certainly done its job... my converter flashes @ 4k, so it that helps.... i tried spraying it off the line and spinned but that is a stock suspension problem not a one wheel peel.!!! lol..there is plenty of other people using this same unit, i know txsilverado also had it in for a while and it also holding up good...

when i read about it awhile back, the explaination was that as soon as the diff. senses there is the least amount of torque increase it locks up just as tight as a full detroit locker but will also unlock like a LSD. whoever explained it said that it is NOT a normal LSD.

one comment about it said that if you even think about adding more torque (accelerating) that it locks up like a bank vault BEFORE you start spinning
