Default Transmission Swap- What should it cost me?

Well, it's finally time to for the 4l80E. FLT will be providing the tranny, and it's now a matter of having it installed. My local shop has quoted me $850 for the tranny/new TC install. I know this is probably a bit high (they usually are!), but what should I be paying?

I say pay nothing and do it yourself. I have no idea what a normal price from a shop would be. I hate even thinking about having to pay someone else to work on my truck.

Thanks for the input so far! I presume the prices you all have paid are just pure install cost. For that alone, the shop has quoted 8 hours. Fluids/tuning/adjustment is an additional $200 with the dyno time.
I'd love to do the installation myself, but I'm afraid I'm without the time, tools, and experience...
Starting to think that $800 out the door is expensive, but not outrageous for top quality work.

I was quoted 550 and almost fell on the floor so I will be doing my own swap!

well there is only so many ways to install a tranny lol, Its hard to mess up so i think any tranny shop can get the job done!
Good choice on the tranny builder!

True- but a few parts will need to be fabricated to do the swap with the 80E (i.e- crossmember, etc.). Even so, it's a relatively simple job I guess. I'd really like to do it myself...
