Default Transmission question

Ok got the trans rebuilt in my 01/5.3 A couple months ago I only put about 900-1000 miles on it. And lost 3/4 gear. Drop the pan found clutch material (black sludge stuff) and the trans fluid was metallic/red. So called the guy up took it him. he asked "what stal I was running". I took him a FTI SB 3200. I have a trans cooler it runs through the radiator and through the cooler. He said the highest I can run is a 2600 the TB converter. I just Oder a yank ss3600. He said he won't warranty another trans cuz of the converter.

I run that same converter on my 180k mile tans and worked fine for 10-15 thousand miles. The only reason I got a rebuilt one is I felt like it was getting weak.

Now my question is is a 3600+ stall to big to run on a weekend/ sometimes a daily driven truck?

3600 imo is badass for daily/weekend truck alot of people on dailys dont go past 3200..and if i were you i would get a trucool 40k cooler bypassed..the radiator is junk also make sure to clean out the lines..

Sounds like another shitty builder to me.

If your tune was done prior to the built transmission, You should have your tune re-adjust after a modified/built transmission. All the upgrades are designed to speed up ***** and increase line pressure and a tune that is set for a basically stock trans can blow a modified one apart.

3600 in a daily will just be fun.

Well I'm going to pick it up today. So we will see I have a 3600 going in. So I'm think the line pressure was turned up. my tuner came over last night turned it back down to stock. So I think it is going to work at least I hope.

But I think your right. About the shitty builder. I've talked to a lot of transmission shops. They said " as long as lock up is working. And you have a trans cooler you should be fine " so this is my last time to drive a hour and a half to get the damn trans

That is indeed a shitty builder.

I would not advise turning the pressures down back to stock, especially in a performance application. You're builder may have shitty diagnostic skills but if the pressure was raised that was probably intentional. A proper main line pressure is critical to transmission survival. How much power do you make roughly if I may ask?
