Default Transfer case gasket leaking?

In my 01 the gasket between the transfer case and transmission constantly leaks. Ive replaced it 3 times now and its leaking again. Has maybe 300 miles on this gasket.

The last time I took the transfercase out I put lock tite on the studs before I put the nuts on, and after I noticed it was leaking again I checked them and got not even half a turn on the nuts.

Someone told me that it was common for people that launch in 4wd to have leaks there a lot but I havent heard of a single person that had a problem with it.

Anyone else having leaks there?

Never had one. Are you using a GM gasket or an off brand? Is the adapter face gouged or scratched or anything?

I had a nagging leak there. Replaced gaskets several times, sealer on the studs and nuts. NO good. I replaced the tail shaft housing and fixed it. Must have gouged it or maybe cracked?

GM gaskets.

Not really, I might replace it anyway just to be sure its not warped or anything.

It keeps tearing through right at the bottom. I'll have to take some pics next time I swap it, but I really am gettign sick of it and dont feel like putting a new gasket in it anytime soon.

Sounds exactly like what I went through. Also the gasket tearing. It will only go on one way. If its splitting you don't have it on right IMO. It shouldn't tear.

No its like the t case wears through it. Its all intact except at the bottom, in the center it wears out.

I know it only goes one way, I am putting it on right, Im not quite that dumb.

Not trying to offend. Sorry if I did. You did say tear, not wear

Don't ask me how I know it only goes on one way and won't tear if you get it right.

May want to consider having your current adapter machined to make sure its flat. May be a little cheaper than a new one if you have access to a mill. Thats what I plan on doing with my leaky one.

Are you sure your not overtightening them? causing the gasket to rip?
