Default transfer cas fluid

i need gm autotrak II fluid which was a dark green color. i was wondering if i could use something else besides goin to the dealer for fluid

I don't think anything else is recommended. Just go to the dealer, it's not very expensive at all. You'll need close to 2.5 quarts so buy 3 and flush a little fresh fluid thru there since you won't have a need for the extra for a few years.

Also, last time I changed mine out, it was blue in color, both new and old. I've never seen green.

Yea, it's blue, and the dealer is still the only place to get it. Just did mine again about 3 weeks ago...

hmm i guess i'm colorblind either that or it just looked green when i saw a small layer of it. either way, i'll just go to the dealer and get like i figured i'd have to

I thought it was green too, Ive seen it out of 2 different autotrac cases I thought they had green fluid.

Maybe it turns greenish after it's been heated up a few times? I know that mine has always been blue, but I change it ahead of schedule. Another thing that might happen...If the seal between the trans and transfer case leaks and some ATF mixes with the transfer case fluid, maybe the mixture of red and blue makes it greenish? (I would think that it would be more purple like though...lol).

I know that if I wear yellow sunglasses while I change my fluid it looks green...j/k

lol nice. when i went to the dealer, they told me that they used green a long time ago and i was like i have an 05, it's not that old. but anyway, i got the blue stuff

it wasn't leakin fluid in, it was bone dry in between

I wanna say that mine was blue also, maybe a bluish green but more blue.
