[Rant on] Had the trans rebuilt about 2 1/2 years ago by a local builder after I noticed a slip on the 2nd to 3rd shift. About 60k miles later I noticed that the trans temp reached about 200 driving around this afternoon and the shifts were a little jerky. Go out for a bite to eat tonight and the shifts are much harder than usual, with a jerk and crunching sound with them. Stopped and smelled the fluid (smells burnt to me), so now it's parked until I can call the pros on Monday and get some answers and options. Good thing I don't race the truck, this would get expensive if I had to replace one of these bastards frequently

Is your tcc working? In some cases your computer will disable the tcc operation because of a code stored in your computer. This will result in a high line pressure condition. Being that you have hard shifts and your trans was running hot its a possibility that this is the case. I would get your vehicle scanned asap to see if this might be a simple fix. HTH Vince
