Have the dealer fix it if its under warranty, then sell that bitch once it is fixed and put a built unit in there..

thats what my plan is. if they cover it under warranty, how much would the stock trans be worth?

A fresh rebuilt trans, you be able to get 1k for no problem..

Correct. Most dealerships won't touch anything at the dealership that requires complete teardown under warranty (at least not the ones in my area). Cross your fingers and hope they don't come back with some BS about incorrect driveline angles or something to try and avoid replacing under warranty.

We rebuild them all the time.... I dont know how the dealers get away with that... You are supposed to do a cost analysis "worksheet" and the cheaper of the two, rebuild or replace is the answer.

FYI- I would much rather have a rebuilt one, the SRTAs are complete junk.

Most of the dealerships that I've either worked at or have been connected to usually use reman transmissions, as it is the most cost effective and time saving. You hardly ever see "new" transmissions, unless the vehicle is a new model with a completely re-tooled trans.

^^^ What he said, I rebuild 90% of the transmissions that come in. My area rep would have my *** if I replaced almost every one. And I usually see about 40-50% of SRTA's come back with problems.
