Default Tranny Question

1. what is the normal temperature reading for the tranny?
2. i have a stock tranny cooler on my truck, if i get a bigger one will it really help it or will it be almost the same as the stock.

Not sure what normal stock temps are, but I would guess around 180ish.

Yes adding a bigger cooler inline with your stock one will help a bunch.

Most people will say the bigger the better. I have a 24,000 GVW Long Tru-cool brand cooler and I am happy with it. I would avoid the cheap aluminum fine design coolers and get a plate style like the Long Tru-Cool, or B&M super cooler.

Totally agree. Get a bigger cooler. The guys over at FLT told me it is very very difficult to over cool a transmission. I've got the 40K Tru-Cool and the highest Trans temp i've seen is ~210 towing a boat up hill mixed with stop and go traffic. Definitely bigger is better when it comes to transmission coolers.
