I am having very similar problems with my truck. 5,000 miles ago I installed a 440hp 6.0 from Thompson motorsports 1,000 miles later my tranny fell apart. Had it rebuilt at a local shop with 2800 stall converter that he got from his converter guy. Revved extremely high and terrible mpg so I switched it out with a vigilante 10. 5 triple disc. Now I have vibration at idle and shuddering while going into and out of lockup. No vibration at wide open throttle. Precision industries thinks it might be a lean burn Condition. Tranny guy has no clue what it is.

Mainly at 30-35 mph and 45-50mph while cruising at light throttle. Runs great when hitting the gas hard. Spent 1,100 on this converter and P.I is a reputable company. Hope its not an internal issue with the converter

Did you get a tune?
That is really what I think is causing my problems, I hope.
How the problem changed from one visit to another, its pretty fukin ridiculous.
The shop was just looking for more money, I was foolish enough to fall for it.

Is PI willing to work with you?

Man, I hope you get it worked out.
Post any updates in here if you like, I'd be interested to know what is going on.

I had the tune done mail order from Nelson performance. A few weeks ago had them adjust the pulse width modulation to engage quicker. They said it couldn't be turned off. Precision industries is willing to build another converter and send it to me. Then reimburse me when they get the other one back. If i knew that was the issue 100% I would do it no problem. Im not sure if that is the problem though. Plus I am getting a slight vibration at idle too. I read somewhere about changing a valve and spring on the valve body to adjust pressure in th transmission??

At least you had a reputable company do your tune. Is the PWM adjustable? I have no clue about tuning, this is my biggest downfall.

That's great PI is willing to work with you.

When I took it out with that trans tech, we talked about PWM but on his Tech II there were no out of the ordinary signs. Actually nothing was out of the ordinary, there were no signs of any kind of malfunction reading on his scanner.
That's when I brought up the tune.

I'm going to get mine flashed back sometime this week. I'm hoping it clears everything up and resolve this issue. I don't want to have to drop the trans again, if I do and have to send the stall back. I think I'd ask for a stall closer to stock, somewhere around 2000/2200.

Yeah precision industries has been very helpful. As well as Danna from probuilt automatics in California. He is a very knowledgeable guy to talk transmissions with. I really want to have it dyno tuned but the tuner had an issue when I took it to him. A week later when I was going back to him my tranny failed and have been having issues since with this shuddering. I went with around 2400 stall with the vigilante converter. The other one was 2800 but defective, so I dont know how a good 2800 stall would drive. I am happy with the 2400 stall in there now as I don't race this vehicle I Just have a lead foot

About the PWM the tuner said it cant be turned on and off. Only adjusted to engage more rapidly. Danna from probuilt automatics said that the PCM can be eliminated through the isolator valve in the throttle body. I have to check if that was done with the shift kit that was installed.

Going in for a re-flash tomorrow. I hope this resolves my issue. Otherwise the converter will be going back.

Did the tuner create the problem?
Did you get your tranny rebuilt after it failed?
What shift kit did you get installed?

It was a transgo kit. Not sure which one. The transmission was rebuilt about 3,000 miles ago. Problem is not from the tune. It started when I switched to the triple disc converter. I think i might have a slight misfire but wasnt noticeable with the other converter. Ive heard you can have a shuddering issue from a misfire
