That's what I figured they would do but, that didn't happen.

So, even though its not throwing a code, would something still pop up while driving and hooked up to HPTuners?

I don't know, but at this point you've spent money on a bad diagnosis.

I'd say get the guy with HPTuners to data log the truck and give you the data log so you can upload it here. Some of the folks here who use HPT can take a look at it and maybe spot something.

When it starts shuddering, drop it down to 3rd or 2nd manually and see if the shudder gets worse/better.

Honestly, I don't think they diagnosed anything, at least with the HPTuners.

I'll request a copy of the data log when I talk to him today. I had sent him a PM through another forum and he got back to me last night.
Though I am a little concerned because he had mentioned that he took it out and the mechanic took it out and they said it drove fine.

I'll give that a try when I take it out today.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

I took it out for a drive yesterday and this morning.

If I drive more aggressive it does not shake or shudder at low speeds. It still shudders at highway speeds though.
Does this have to do with the tune?

I think I need to find a tranny specific shop to diagnose my problem.
Heck, if its even a tranny problem.
I'm pretty aggravated.

have you put a set of plugs and wires on it yet? until someone scans that truck watching misfires i will stick to what i said. I have seen it tons of times managing a trans shop and doing the diag work myself.

I'm sorry, I have not put plugs or wires on yet.
I'm going to order them right now.
Are there any ones (plugs or wires) in particular I should get?
I was looking at MSD for wires but am unsure for the plugs.
What would you recommend?

Thanks

edit: I was looking around and found A/C Delco Iridium Tip plugs seem to be popular for our trucks. Is this a good choice?
As for wires, any new OE or aftermarket should be an improvement.
Thoughts, opinions?
Thanks again

^^^Those will be fine, I usually run the NGK TR5's non iridium(cheaper) and I have never bought plug wires for any of my trucks. You'll need a 1'' extension on your spark plug socket for the pass side rear plug.

I prefer to stick with an OE type plug and wire for a stock application. I have seen a lot of newer cars throw fits when you don't use the right type of plug.

As mentioned a good scan tool can be used to command the different solenoids. It can also show slight missfire counts on individual cylinders.

With a proper diagnostic, The technician should have verified that the converter was the issue before condemning the part. To many so called tech's just want to throw parts at vehicles. This includes dealership tech's

As mentioned it could just need a simple tune up. How many miles are on the vehicle in question?

From the searching I've done, those plugs seem to be a longer life plug compared to the NGK. As for the wires, figured might as well replace them if I'm doing the plugs.

Honestly, I'd prefer a stock OE plug. What brand/part# is preferred for an OE plug?
I thought the wires I chose above were stock replacement.

This is all new to me, the scan tool stuff. From what has been told to me (here and other forums) and all the searching I've done. I'm finding that the shop I brought it to did not perform the proper procedures to confirm that it was a converter issue or a misfire for that matter. I am more than disgusted and am quite hesitant to bring it back. I am also pretty pissed off about the whole situation getting worse. I had spoken with one of the guys the other day. He said he took it out as did the mechanic and they both claimed it was fine.
I had also mentioned about a misfire.
We were at a stop light and I had pointed out a little chop in the idle. I asked if he felt it, he said yes. I asked if it could be a misfire, he said no, it was old. What the hell kind of response is that? Its an 07, not a 97.

I'm sorry to vent, I'm just aggravated.

An acquaintance I know recommended his tranny shop, he builds all his cars and his sons cars. I think I might give him a call tomorrow.
