Traction Bars?
#1
i finally sat down and used the search button a lot and read many many posts.I am trying to find some traction bars for my lifted truck i know cal tracs make some but from what i have read on some of the forums(petersen's 4 wheel & off-road) the longer the bars the better. Does any one else make a set up for my truck? I would love to spend the time and make my own but i work way too much. I am also going to order some Deaver springs soon maybe next month so i can try to finish my truck up. Reason being is because in second/third gears my truck shifts really hard. yes i had my tuner look at it and fix it the best he could but now i know it is my rear axle because of the blocks/leaf set up i have i noticed it when i drove it the past couple of days. when i drive like an old lady (which is never) the truck shifts are pretty smooth but when i drive it pretty hard it shifts hard.
so far i found these guys

http://lazarsmith.com/tractionbars.html
any input helps i just want to be sure that i make the right decision the first time and not have to worry about it later.

I have some procomp bars I used for about 1000 miles I will sale you, with the mounting kit. Since I have basically a stock 5.3 I really dont need them.
...aside from that, its my opinion that as long as you arent running a block you dont really need traction bars. Lift springs basically take care of axle wrap themselves.

Like a broken record, I'm going to suggest a shackle flip again, lol. An Offroad Design shackle flip will give you 4" of lift, combined with a one inch "zero-rate" add-a-leaf block will give you your 5 inches. The zero is somewhat required to center the axle in the wheelwell, since the shackle flip will move it forward.
