Towing with AWD Denali or Escalade
#1
Quick questions for those here who know... I need an SUV but I also need the capability to tow my Grand National around to the strip. I don't really want a Suburban for the extra length, so I was considering a Denali or Escalade so I could get the added power of the 6.0. Is it a problem to tow a car on an open trailer behind an AWD half ton? Am I better off just keeping my Yukon with the 5.3? By the way, I'm looking at 02-04 vehicles, not new ones. I currently have a 2000 Yukon 5.3. Any input would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Your 5.3 Yuk is fine for what you have planned. A full ehaust and a mild tune will net you the power of a stock 6.0 for musch less than buying a new rig.
But I really like those AWD Denalis, they are sharp!

I have towed my Corvette in an enclosed 24 trailer between 4000 and 12000 miles a year for the last 7 years. First with a 2001 Yukon and now with a 2004 Escalade. The week point in not AWD, its not engine torque, its the trans. Both did fine but you should consider some transmission upgrades. Minimum should be vette servo and billet OD servo. Next upgrades would be shift kit then a Level 3 trans.
