At the same time I hear of people running 50 shots all day out the hole on stock 4.8/5.3s with nothing more then shift kit/servos.
I thought the same thing in a rcsb. Found out the hard way that a 60e won't last. Good luck.

brent- I meant that I won't be driving like an idiot all day long. Maybe I should work on my inferences.

Well I guess everyone can tell me "I told you so" the day I blow up my 60E. I dont plan on hitting the track but maybe half a dozen times a year. Definitely not in the summer time. Im also the person that when driving around town usually doesnt take it over 2500rpms unless needed and only goes WOT less than a handful of times per tank of gas.

DTHPROOF, sorry for somewhat jacking your thread. If you dont plan on taking your truck to the track but a few times a year and arent going to beat on it on the street then I dont see why a well built 60/65e wont last. But appearntly im the only one who thinks this is true.

I'm not trying to be a dick, and I wouldn't want anyones stuff to break, ever. I just think the bigger the better. If a built 60e should take "600 ftlbs", and your making 450 whp, is it really rated a whp, or fwhp. That's a little close for me, so I swapped to a 80e, that I have seen many others run for years, with more power than me. BUT, I do know that eventually, mine will break, too, it just won't do it with a bang dumping fluid, it will just start slipping.

I drive easy 80-90% of the time, but it's nice to know that 10-20% of the time that I won't be left along a back road somewhere with a busted tranny, or oiling down the track pissing of 150-200 people.

Good luck, Kbracing manage to break his built trans a few times with his little 4.8 and a few puonds of boost before swapping. The only person I know of making a 60e last in a ECSB 4wd is Trever1t and thats because hes old and never ran his **** hard except once a year at the track

I broke a supposedly built 60e (lasted 6 month and 5 track passes) and mine truck is nothing special... That was enough for me, i am in the process of building my 80 now...

I'm just going to leave this bitch stock and not worry about it. I'm not really excited about an endeavor into swapping harnesses, shortening my driveshaft, and fab'ing up a crossmember. Plus, my truck off the spray will be so weak with the 25rwhp loss I'm going to see that it's just downright frustrating.

All we had to do to my driveshaft was change out the yoke on the tranny side. No cutting at all. Crossmember just cut and add the steel plates to extend and weld up. Extend coolant lines, change flex plate to six bolt plate, add harness done.. my stock 80 has been handling 500 whp for about two years now.

So I would only need the driveshop to change the yoke out for me, not modify the length? Thanks so much for the answers guys.
