Default TA rear end girdle bolts ?

My guy that was installing my truetrac & 4.10s said he couldn't get the TA girdle cover to go on. He said the bolts included with the cover are metric & the housing threads are standard or vice versa.

Anybody else had this problem?

I want to know what threads my housing has so I can try to locate the correct cap head screws & get this cover on. I would rather not have to jack up the truck to crawl under there & remove a stock bolt to measure the threads.

Does anybody know?

That pissed me off during my swap Aswell. I ended up buying correct bolts at supply house.

your ten bolt housing has metric threads. the cover may have come with SAE bolts.

m8x1.25x30mm should get the job done. just check length with the ones that came with your cover....and if you want to be extra sure...take an oem bolt with you to the hardware store to verify the thread pitch.

That's aggravating, I just found the part # for the ARP bolt kit & they are standard.

The ten bolt has been around for many many years....only the past 15 or so years have been metric. All the rest are SAE.

I purchased my cover from T/A directly and the 1st thing they asked was if I needed SAE or Metric threaded bolts to be included. As EVILGMC stated, the 10-bolts have been around for eons, so it’s really not T/A’s fault that they come with old standard SAE threaded bolts in the kit, but you would think whomever you got it from would at least make you select which style you needed at the time of purchase.

When I bought my TA girdle (straight from TA), first thing I found in the box was a note that the newer 10 bolts may have metric bolts, and it listed the necessary size. I was able to find the bolts at Lowe's and Home Depot...they're not stainless or anything but they get the job done

I think you can get stainless bolts at Ace Hardware. I have a Ta cover sitting around, also. Waiting for better weather to install it and I still need bolts, too.
